A new 8-week cycle begins
This week marks the end of the last eight weeks, in which I tried to run at least 2-3 days per week. As I got busier, it got harder. As the days grew shorter, it got harder. So much so that during my eighth week, I didn't run at all! I realized that my activity level was down (less sleep => more sleeping in => less running, less yoga, no lifting) and my carb consumtion had probably doubled (thanks to daily oatmeal and sandwiches), and my pants didn't look or feel as great. The solution? Back to lifting weights. The tried and true solution for me has always been lifting weights, and more recently, reducing (not elminating) my carbs. Over the summer, I was doing yoga for over an hour every day and having protein shakes for breakfast. I felt great! In just five days (last week) of leg lifts, crunches, more yoga, and no oatmeal, I'm back into my "skinny" pants! Let this be a lesson to me: don't stop lifiting weights and don't overdo the carbs!
Starting this week, I'm back on an eight-week cycle of lifting (plus yoga). I'll probably come across a race that I'll want to do, so I'll have to work around it. Right now, I just don't have the time or energy in the morning to lace up. I hope daylight savings helps.
